Source analysis: where AI answers really come from
AI assistants do not invent their recommendations, they lean on sources. Geony shows per market and per assistant which domains and which exact pages feed the answers in your category.

Including reach per source: does it count at one assistant, or at all three.
How it works
- →The most cited domains in your category, per assistant and per market, down to the exact page.
- →The citation gap: sources that decide the answers but that you are not on, sorted by how often they show up.
- →With your own Ahrefs key connected you also see the domain authority, so you know which sources are achievable this quarter.
- →Your own cited pages, how often and in what context, and which citations you have lost.
Why it is built this way
'Get more visible' is a wish; 'make sure you are on those three list pages' is a task. A source that counts at all three assistants is worth more than a source that appears at just one, and that is exactly the difference the source analysis makes visible. That turns the question from whether you can work on AI visibility into where you begin.
Few sources carry the most answers
Across all our answers 398 unique domains passed by, but 316 of them at exactly one assistant and only 9 at all three. The lesson is not 'make sure you are everywhere', but 'find the handful of sources that recur across several assistants in your category'. That is the difference between an impossible assignment and a list of five.
What it is not
the boundary, on purposeGeony builds no backlink or keyword index of its own; that is a business in itself and not ours. The authority figures come from your own Ahrefs or Semrush key, on your quota. Without that connection you still see the gap, just not sorted by domain authority.
In your category 47 domains are cited. You are on 6. These 11 are realistically reachable.
Frequently asked questions
Where do those sources come from?
From the structured citation data of the assistant itself, not from URLs the model names in running text. A language model regularly invents the latter; the metadata does not. Every source in Geony is therefore traceable to a real answer at a real moment.
What exactly is a citation gap?
The domains that are cited in your category while you are not listed on them. Sorted by how often they show up in answers, so you begin with the source that most often makes the difference.
Do I have to be on all cited sources?
No. Many sources count at just one assistant or one single question. The gain lies in the small group that recurs broadly; Geony makes that group separately visible, so you do not spread your energy across a hundred domains.
